Moisture resistant plasterboard is a kind of plasterboard made from a synthetic material. The synthetic material can be polymer vinyl, thermoplastic polyethylene or PVC (polyvinyl chloride). The synthetic material has the properties to resist moisture, but not enough to stop the moisture. The moisture resistant board is called as Moisture Resistant Plasterboard or Moisture Resistant Board (MRP) because it is more resistant to moisture and condensation than ordinary plasterboard.

Moisture Resistant Plasterboard or Moisture Resistant Board (MRP) contains plastic beads, epoxy polymers or dry film modifiers which prevent moisture from penetrating the surface of the plasterboard. However, moisture resistant plasterboard does not have as high an amount of additives as the normal plasterboard. These additives provide several advantages for the manufacturers.

With Moisture Resistant Plasterboard manufacturers can add some additional features for the customers’ use such as ultraviolet stabilization, chemical and swelling resistance, solvents, self-adhesive bonding, self-adhesive grouting, etc. Some Moisture Resistant Plasterboards contain also some special additives, such as the UV stabilizers. UV stabilizers help to prevent sun damage in the future. It is very important to note that some manufacturers of Moisture Resistant Plasterboards do not add any stabilizer to the board.

One of the most important features of Moisture Resistant Plasterboard is that it makes cleaning up easier. Most of these products come with tightly bonded strong paper liners which prevent moisture from seeping into the surface of the plasterboard. You can clean the moisture resistant plasterboard using warm water and a good quality commercial cleaning detergent. You should never scrub Moisture Resistant Plasterboard using rough or scratchy materials.

The thickness of Moisture Resistant Plasterboard is one of its most important characteristics. A thick Moisture Resistant Plasterboard has the maximum ability to repel moisture from the surface of the plasterboard thereby eliminating the need to moisten the surface of the plasterboard with water. However, there are some manufacturers of Moisture Resistant Plasterboard which contain some moisture retaining additives, which increases the durability of the product. These additives are added to the plasterboard during manufacturing process in order to increase the life of the product.

The thickness of Moisture Resistant Plasterboard is one of its most important characteristics. There are different types of Moisture Resistant Plasterboard available in the market which have different characteristics. You should buy Moisture Resistant Plasterboard according to the size and thickness of your wall. A thick Moisture Resistant Plasterboard has the maximum ability to repel moisture from the surface of the plasterboard thereby eliminating the need to moisten the surface of the plasterboard with water.

Some of the commonly used additives include Zylan, Plastisol, Talc, Magnesium Chloride etc. Some of these additives help to maintain the crystalline structure of Moisture Resistant Plasterboard. There are certain types of Moisture Resistant Plasterboard which use additives to resist high moisture content and mold growth. Some examples of these products are – gyproc moisture resistant plasterboard, high moisture, mastic, polystyrene, drywall cements etc.

There are various other qualities of Moisture Resistant Plasterboard such as its fire retardant properties. These products meet all national fire protection standards. Also its clear and color visibility aids in easy maintenance. It is always recommended to use Moisture Resistant Plasterboard in high traffic areas like in kitchens, washrooms and basements where there is possibility of water seepage and growth due to damp conditions.

There are different types of Moisture Resistant Plasterboard additives available in the market. Some of the most commonly used additives include – calcium chloride, magnesium chloride, Zylan, Plastisol etc. These additives are added during the manufacturing process to increase the strength and durability of the finished product.

To manufacture water resistant plasterboard, various other additional materials are also used such as – paper liners, – gyproc moisture resistant plasterboard, – gyproc waterproofing, acrylic clays, fiber boards and – acrylates etc. Some of these materials are added to prevent the growth of mold and mildew. Also some of them are added to increase the aesthetic appeal of the finished product. When choosing Moisture Resistant Plasterboard, its important to choose the right material. A proper research will help you to buy the proper material.

When looking out for the appropriate Moisture Resistant Plasterboard, it is always important to buy from reputed manufactures. Buying from a supplier who does not have good quality paper liners or clays can be quite harmful for your health as these materials are meant to absorb moisture. Paper liners and clays, for example, can start breeding mold and mildew very soon. Also, buying from suppliers who use natural and synthetic materials is always advisable. Also check the material for fire retardant properties. If the manufacturer claims that his product is fireproof, then you can be sure that the product is indeed fireproof.
